Vol. 1 • No. 7 • July 2018

Congratulations!

This year, two of our wonderful students had the opportunity to compete at the annual Leavenworth International Accordion Celebration. Both seven-year-old Ivy Eyer and thirteen-year-old Alexander Erickson performed excellently. We are proud to have them a part of our Academy and we look forward to seeing them progress and flourish as they continue their musical journey.

“Competing this year in the Leavenworth International Accordion Celebration was very exciting for me, because I was playing ‘L’enfant Demon’ by Claude Thomain. I like this composition very much. I would like to thank my teacher Patricia Bartell for guiding me through and helping to master L’enfant Demon. I feel proud and accomplished.”
— Alexander Erickson

“I had a great time at Leavenworth this year. My favorite parts were playing my songs for the judges, getting to try out different accordions and seeing other accordion players playing their songs. Plus my cousin and grandmas and grandpas were there with us. It was really fun.”
— Ivy Eyer

Be Passionate

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

BY MELODIE CANNON

Ever since Mozart was a young child his life was dedicated to practicing, studying and playing music. He wanted to know everything about music composers and styles of music. He loved and thrived on constantly learning new things. Because of this, he was able to quickly become a successful musician, even in his youth.

It is proven that being passionate, exited and eager about something helps build a long-lasting motivation to work towards being successful. When someone is truly passionate about something or someone, they will work harder to reach their goals. They will do whatever it takes to continue growing and move forward with whatever they are passionate about.

It is equally important to have the mindset that there is always more to learn, in anything. Because of this, there is an infinite amount of room to grow, but only if you have the passion to keep you going.
